Project Sudz is an environmentally friendly pet company offering dogs all-natural and organic grooming products. This is a review.

I was introduced to Project Sudz a few months ago. The owner offered to send me a gift box of their products, but I decided to buy my own. I don’t say this to garner respect because my choice to buy products that I could get for free is strictly selfish.

1. When I receive free products, I feel obligated to say nice things about the products. Some brands demand positive reviews; some brands appreciate honest feedback – me? – I wanted to avoid drama, so I bought the product.

2. When I buy the products, I can be 100% honest—1000% honest—a petty level of honesty. This is why I have a Patreon account. That’s where I’m 1000% honest, down to every little detail, about my thoughts on a brand and its products.

I still accept free products. These are usually products given to me by friends in the industry or expensive products. So, if you work for HarvestRight, I’d love a medium-sized freeze-dryer – black or stainless steel, with a premium motor. Thanks.

Who is Project Sudz?

Project Sudz is a small company that makes sustainable, environmentally safe pet products, and I’m here for it. I’m surprised no one else has thought about this; maybe they have, and I missed it. But the idea of removing water from products is brilliant. Instead of shipping around big spray bottles filled with liquid, Project Sudz has replaced the one-use plastic with environmentally safe, re-useable containers.

The only disappointment I have about Project Sudz is their website.  There’s nothing about the people behind the company. Maybe it’s just me, but I love seeing the faces behind the brand and the pets that inspired the business and products.

Project Sudz Products I Ordered

I ordered the following products from Project Sudz; choosing the items I’d use regularly with my dogs. This isn’t a complete list of their product line.

The room/pet spray, flea & tick spray, and waterless bath products arrive in a small tin, and come with a glass spray bottle. I transfer the contents from the tin to the bottle and add water.

Organic Shampoo Bar – Lavender & Sage

INGREDIENTS: Organic Saponified Oils (Olive, Coconut, and Castor), Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Lavender Essential Oil, Clary Sage Essential Oil, Bentonite Clay, Activated Charcoal

I love shampoo bars and didn’t think I’d have an opportunity to use this one since I only bathe my dogs when they roll in something disgusting or play in the mud. But, Apollo played in the mud last weekend and got a bath. I prefer shampoo bars to liquid shampoo because I don’t feel like I’m wasting product. With shampoo, I can overpour; with bars, I use what I need.

This shampoo bar cleans and rinses well. And Apollo didn’t smell like a doused him in Axe Body Spray. The scent is there, but it’s mild. The last time I used shampoo (natural and organic) on my dogs, they smelled like the shampoo for two days before it began to tone down.

Room & Pet Spay – Lavender & Sage

INGREDIENTS: Citric Acid, Sodium Bicarbonate, Lavender Essential Oil, Gluconolactone, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Benzoate, Clary Sage Essential Oil, Calcium Gluconate

If you’re looking for a replacement for Febreze, this isn’t it. Like the shampoo bar, the scent is there but mild. I like it because it’s not overwhelming for my dogs. I’m heavy-handed with essential oils, adding 20 drops to a diffuser because I love a scent so much. Our house is open-concept, so the dogs are never overwhelmed, and I can always open the windows when I go too far.

Febreze does a great job of masking odors in the home, but the scent is overwhelming, even for me, and I wouldn’t say I like the smell.

The Project Sudz Room & Pet Spray is great for freshening up a small room and eliminating stuffy air. It’s also a great coat spray for my dogs. The scent doesn’t hang in the air like Febreeze, but just because it’s gone, doesn’t mean it’s not working. The room (or the dog) still smells nice.

Protect & Renew Balm

INGREDIENTS: Hemp Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E

The Protect & Renew Balm was the one product I didn’t like. The balm is too thick and pulls as you rub it across the paw pad. With healthy or rough (from outdoors) paws may be able to handle this balm, but my dogs have soft, haven’t worked a day in their lives, paws and this balm is too much. I tried melting it a bit in my hands, but it wouldn’t budge.

Thumbs down.

Waterless Bath – Lavender & Sage

INGREDIENTS – Witch Hazel, Organic Olive Oil, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Coconut oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Organic Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Organic Castor Oil, Patchouli Essential Oil, Benzyl Alcohol, HoWood Essential Oil, Polysorbate 20, Black Pepper Essential Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin

I ordered two scents of the Waterless Bath spray, and THIS RIGHT HERE is my favorite product, and I will be ordering it again. And again. I only bathe my dogs when they need it, which amounts to a few times a year. I keep the doggy odor down by feeding a fresh food diet, brushing my dogs weekly, and using a coat conditioner. When the waterless bath products arrived, I immediately added them to the routine, and they were exactly what I didn’t realize I needed.

I spray my dogs down with the spray and brush them thoroughly. Like the other products, the waterless bath has a nice scent but isn’t overwhelming. The dogs smell great all week.

I didn't understand why this is called the “waterless,” a friend explained that it's because I don't have to rinse the product out of a dog's coat. WORKS FOR ME because this product keeps my dogs looking and smelling great without the drama (and laundry) of bath time.

Ear Cleaner

INGREDIENTS: Witch Hazel, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Niaouli, OrganicNeem Oil, Organic Aloe Powder, Quillaja Extract Powder

I rarely need to clean my dogs’ ears, but I ordered the ear cleaner to have on hand in case it’s needed. I usually use a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water, so it wasn’t a jump for me to order this product. Apple cider vinegar is an ingredient in many of their products.

Flea & Tick Relief Spray

INGREDIENTS: Apple Cider Vinegar, Organic Neem Oil, Cedarwood Essential Oil, Peppermint Essential oil, Niaouli Essential Oil, Soap Bark, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate

I didn’t need this product, but I was curious about it and after using it for a couple of months, I like it. It’s hard to tell if a flea & tick product works because we hardly have any fleas, and we’ve never had ticks. #knockonwood

I used this product instead of my beloved Kin+Kind, and we had no flea issues. I began spraying it on myself, and the mosquitoes left me alone, too. I still love Kin+Kind.  Project Sudz is high on my “love” list because of the scent. I've also used Wondercide products for flea and tick protection, and my biggest gripe is the smell; it’s too strong.

Final Thoughts on Project Sudz Products

I will continue ordering the shampoo bar, waterless bath spray, flea and tick spray, and room spray. The people behind Project Sudz have found a balance between a product that smells nice without making a dog miserable. Years ago, someone told me they like their dogs to smell like dogs. I didn’t understand, but now I do. Each of my dogs has a unique scent, and I love to bury my face in their necks to breathe it in. Project Sudz doesn’t take this away.

I prefer soft salves, so I'll stick with other brands, but I'm happy with the other items I ordered.
