Pet Parents v Dog Owners
There are strong opinions about the terms “pet parents” and “dog moms.” We recognize that the pet industry started calling us “pet parents” because they're capitalizing off of our love of our pets and the change in our society that has led to us treating pets as family members. And we know that we didn't physically conceive and give birth to dogs.
So, why are people so damn triggered?
Do the Adult Kids Resent their Canine Siblings
When Cathy and her husband became empty-nesters, they brought dogs into their lives. I never thought about how kids might respond to dogs taking their place and I had a blast interviewing Cathy's children on this topic. While there is much love for the dogs, there was some concern and opinions too.
Disaster Preparedness – Are You Prepared
Cathy lives in an area of the country that experiences Hurricanes. Where I live, we have rain, some snow, and the occasional wind and thunderstorms. The biggest natural disasters I've experienced in the Pacific Northwest were when Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980, an earthquake in 2001, and a mudslide in 2014. We didn't have to grab a kit and flee our homes in any of these cases.
But what if we did have to flee? Are we prepared? Nope!
Cathy inspires me to start a kit for me and the dogs in case a Tsunami or huge earthquake hits.
