What is Solutions Pet Food?
Solutions Pet Products is a collaborative focusing on fresh pet food and supplements. They use regenerative farming practices and modern science to create their products. They produce nutrient-rich raw food diets and whole food supplements to promote a healthy gut microbiome, immune system, and overall wellness. And use eco-friendly packaging.
The animals are pasture-raised, grass-fed (grass-finished beef), and not subjected to hormones or antibiotics. The fish is wild-caught and tested for heavy metal toxicity. And Solutions Pet isn't subjected to high-pressure pasteurization (HPP).
Is Solution Pet an Organic Food?
I believe Solutions Pet is better than organic. Their products are made with the highest quality ingredients, and they have protein sources that are better than organic, allowing them to skip paying the costs to obtain an organic certification, which they'd have to pass on to the consumer, leading to a 30% price increase.
- Solutions Pet's animals have access to the outdoors; they are pasture-raised and only go indoors when they want.
- Solutions Pet practices regenerative farming “to optimize, improve, contribute to, and nurture the land.”
- Solutions Pet's animals are fed a diet that “nature would provide, in a way nature would provide.”
- Solutions Pet focuses on avoiding all chemicals and choosing natural rearing practices to ensure the health of their animals.
Formulated by Chelsea Kent and Roxanne Stone, Solutions Pet Products quickly became one of the leading raw food brands. Although I feed my dogs a homemade raw diet to my dogs, I like to keep a case of Solutions on hand to feed as individual meals or add as a “side dish” to their daily meals because I want my dogs to enjoy the many benefits offered by this food.
I alternate between all three of their proteins: chicken, beef, and pork. I also feed their dairy and gelatin products.

No Artificial Ingredients
I'm not a fan of synthetic ingredients. I understand that they're necessary in some cases, but I like to avoid them when I can because I believe long-term consumption may lead to:
- nutrient imbalances
- decreased bioavailability
- missing out on the benefits of whole foods (phytochemicals, antioxidants, and fiber)
- potential toxicities
Solutions Pet Products doesn't use artificial ingredients in their formulations.
Solutions Pet Food – Ingredients
Three protein formulations are available at the time of this product review: chicken, beef, and pork. As you can see, Solutions uses natural and organic ingredients in their formulations.

Fat Content of Solutions Pet Food
Solutions Pet Food is higher in fat, with every protein formulated to a 1:1 protein-to-fat ratio. Other brands are more lean by comparison:
- Raw Paws Pet Food Beef – 1.5 to 1
- Darwin's Pet Natural Selections Beef – 1:9 to 1
- Viva Raw Beef – 2:2 to 1
- Steve's Real Food Beef – 1.5 to 1
- OC Raw Beef – 1:6 to 1
My dogs tolerate the higher fat content of Solutions Pet Food.
Cost of Solutions Pet Food
At approximately $11/pound (for beef), Solutions Pet Food is expensive and far outside of my budget. However, due to the nutrient-rich nature of Solutions, the cost is closer to $6/pound. It's less expensive when purchased as a 12-pound case, less than $5/pound. Of course, these numbers depend on where you live.
For example, Apollo usually eats 12.25 ounces per meal. When I feed Solutions Pet, he eats about 6.8 ounces per meal. That's a 44% difference!
I add solutions to their meals in two ways: as a “side dish” or feeding a full meal a few days a month. I add a gently cooked vegetable blend when I feed my dogs a full meal because they're used to eating more. My favorite blends are:
- sauteed culinary mushrooms and baby bok choy
- broccoli or green beans with Real Dog Box organ blend or anchovy bits
Alternating Solutions Pet Milk Products
I have a freezer full of Solutions milk products, made from a base of raw goat's milk, that I use as a replacement for fasting days (to prevent hunger pukes), to soothe an upset tummy, or to make frozen treats in the summer. Solutions' milk products are a healthy source of fat, and offer benefits such as probiotics that promote gut health and boost digestion, vitamins and minerals for overall nutrition, and enzymes that aid in nutrient absorption.
Raw goat's milk supports a healthy immune system, improves digestion, and offers a source of hydration and nourishment.
- Better Butter Tea – with organic parsley, organic dandelion root, organic yucca
- improves digestion, nutrient absorption, cognitive health, mental health, cardiac health, supports urinary tract health
- Tummy Butter Tea – with organic peppermint, organic chicory, organic aloe leaf, organic ginger
- improves digestion, metabolic health, cognitive health, mental health
- GoatNOG – with fermented duck eggs, raw honey, organic cinnamon
- improves digestion, metabolic health, cognitive health, mental health, aids in glucose/insulin regulation
- TexSauce – with organic fermented turmeric, organic fermented ginger
- anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetes, anti-cancer
I use these milk products as meal replacements and meal toppers. The TexSauce is my current favorite because Zoey struggles with golden paste, and this is an excellent alternative.
Alternating Solutions Pet Gelatin Broth Products
I usually make bone broth for my dogs, but I love having Solutions Pet on hand because the ingredients are fantastic, and making fermented fish broth at home isn't easy.
Bone broth is rich in nutrients like collagen, amino acids, and minerals, which support joint health, gut health, and immune function. It promotes healthy skin, aids in digestion, provides a source of hydration, and supports overall well-being.
- Pork Jiggles – made with whole pork heats, pork feet, and blueberries
- Chicken Jiggles – made with whole chicken heats, chicken feet, and organic fermented ginger
- Fish Jiggles (my favorite) – made with whole red fish, fermented herring, cod liver oil, and mango
I use warmed broth to take the chill off raw dog food, as a mid-day treat, as a meal topper, and to make frozen treats in the summer.
Solutions Pet DOGh Cheese is a Functional Treat
The raw goat's milk produced by Solutions is used to make their DOGh, based on a Persian recipe, and should be combined with herbs for optimal results.
- DOGh for inflammation – with organic yucca, which contains resveratrol to help reduce inflammation
- DOGh for anxiety – with chamomille, which has a calming effect on the central nervous system
- DOGh for urinary tract health – with organic dandelion root (a natural diuretic) and organic cranberry
- DOGh for parasites – with organic diatomaceous earth and zucchini
I haven't used the cheese medicinally yet; I've only used them as a treat, so I don't have much of a review.
Solutions Pet Herbal Remedies
Solutions Pet's veterinarian recommended, organic herbal remedies contain various nutrients and phytonutrients and are formulated to target specific health issues. These remedies are non-GMO, hand-harvested, and don't contain fillers, binders, or preservatives.
I've used the following with my dogs:
- Heavy Metal – to detox
- Restore – for liver support after vaccinations or prescription medication
- Chill Out – for calming
- Inflammax – to reduce inflammation associated with joints
My Final Thoughts on Solutions Pet Products
I have been a fan of this brand since its inception, and the more I look into it, the more respect I have for its products. Solutions Pet food is about 35% higher than my average DIY budget, making it perfect to feed my dogs several days each month. However, I'm seriously considering adjusting my budget and feeding Solutions Pet for at least half the month.
I incorporate the milk and broth products in my dogs' diet, but not as often as I should. That will change after this reminder of the benefits.
I don't use Solutions Pet's herbal supplements regularly; instead, I incorporate them when needed. All of my dogs can benefit from the herbal supplements, but I would use them primarily with senior dogs to stay within my budget.
In my opinion, Solutions Pet Products is a brand many dogs can benefit from, regardless of their diet. Even if I fed kibble, I could incorporate Solutions food, broths, milk, cheese, broths, and herbs to improve the diet.diet
Where to Find Solutions Pet Products
If you're interested in trying Solutions Pet Products, you can find a retail location near you on their “where to buy” page. My local pet store only offers twelve-pound boxes of pet food. For larger sizes, inquire with the store manager about placing a special order.
My Cavalier (along with many other Cavaliers I know of) is deficient in folate, and I purposely alternate between Green JuJu’s raw goat milk and Solutions GoatNog because the duck eggs in the nog are high in folate. I also like that it offers gut diversity and how clean the ingredients are. Like you, I also love that Solutions is supporting small family farms that practice regenerative farming practices, so it makes me feel good to support them.
That’s an amazing testimonial for the herbs. It makes me so happy that I have them on hand.
I use the Chill Out with my Blue Tick Coonhound. I was able to get him off of Prozac and it seems to work better for him. I also use the milks, rotating them with Green Juju.
