We've had dogs for nearly thirteen years. And I've made a lot of mistakes over the years:
- I didn't correctly socialize my dogs.
- I didn't encourage confidence and independence.
- I humanized my dogs, treating them like my babies.
My lack of knowledge contributed to a lack of confidence in my dogs. But the more I learn about dog behavior, the more opportunities I have to correct my shortcomings.
Next week, another opportunity to learn more about dogs begins. The Out of Control Dog Summit is a FREE online event hosted by Kelly Dunbar & Dr. Ian Dunbar. Over four days – February 20 – 24, 2023 – a team of dog trainers and behaviorist will share their knowledge with pet parents who want to understand their dogs better.
Benefits of The Out of Control Dog Summit
In 2022, we added a puppy to our family. Bella is now six months old, and I've taken her training seriously because I want to avoid separation anxiety, reactivity, fear, and aggression. The Out of Control Dog Summit is a free event that will give me more information as I raise a confident puppy.
- How to understand your dog's subtle body language that can quickly lead to panic
- How to understand and help overcome your dog's separation anxiety
- What is dog reactivity and the proven techniques you can use to prevent it
- How to use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior
- The benefits of using a time-out or timeout area
- How to work to get calm behavior and gradually close the distance to an obedient dog
- What to teach your dog to do around non-dog stressors
- The best way to manage destructive chewing behaviors
- Targeted training for problem areas, fun-filled techniques for owners, and age-related changes in sleep and exercise needs
