A Family of Rare Dogs Who Look Completely Different Are Surprisingly All Related
When you think about dog breeds, you probably picture a pretty consistent look across the board. Golden Retrievers have that iconic golden coat, Dachshunds are always low to the ground, and Dalmatians are instantly recognizable by their spots. But every now and then, a breed comes along that completely throws those expectations out the window. The Yakutian Laika is exactly that kind of breed, and a recent viral video proved just how wildly different dogs from the same family can look.
The video was shared on TikTok by user @yakutianfreya on April 24, 2026, and it introduced viewers to four of these stunning dogs. One of them is Freya, an almost entirely white dog with strikingly bright blue eyes. Behind her are three other Yakutian Laikas, each with their own distinct appearance, and what makes it even more surprising is that those three are actually related to one another. A mother, her daughter, and her son, plus the gorgeous Freya, all standing together looking like they could easily belong to completely different breeds.

The comments on the video made it clear that people absolutely fell in love with this group. Fans left messages like “I love Yakutian Laikas so much,” “One day I will meet them,” and “Ahh, my dream breed.” It is easy to see why this breed draws such devoted admirers, because they truly have something special about them. Their rarity only adds to the appeal, and seeing four of them together was more than most dog lovers could handle.
In a previously shared video of the same four dogs, commenters gushed over their eyes, with one person writing that they loved how all of them had such beautiful eyes. Another fan said they loved the dark one and the pink-collared one, and honestly just all of them. It is the kind of wholesome content that reminds you why the internet can sometimes be a genuinely wonderful place. These dogs have clearly built themselves a devoted fanbase, and it is not hard to understand why.
So how can four dogs of the same breed, including a mother and her own offspring, look so different from one another? The answer comes down to genetics and the remarkable range of coat colors and markings that are all considered standard within the Yakutian Laika breed. According to the American Kennel Club, the Yakutian Laika can come in seven different coat color variations, including white, black and white, gray and white, white and red, and brown and white, among others. On top of that, their markings can be black, tricolored, or buff, which means two dogs from the same litter can look like completely different animals.

The Yakutian Laika is a spitz-type working breed that originates from Siberia, where it was historically used for sledding, hunting, and herding reindeer. They are known for being energetic, loyal, and highly intelligent, making them wonderful companions for active owners who can keep up with them. Their thick double coats and striking eyes, which often come in vivid blue, give them an almost otherworldly appearance. Seeing this family of four side by side really highlights just how much beautiful variation can exist within a single breed.
It is a great reminder that when it comes to dogs, appearances can be wonderfully deceiving. The Yakutian Laika is still relatively rare outside of Russia, which makes sightings like this all the more exciting for dog enthusiasts around the world. Whether they are nearly all white like Freya or carrying darker markings, every one of them carries that same unmistakable energy and charm. If this breed is not already on your radar, it absolutely should be.
If you have ever come across a Yakutian Laika or have a story about a dog whose looks surprised you, share your thoughts in the comments.
