Meet the Most Beautiful Cat in the World, Owner Says: “We Started With Shows When He Was Three Months Old”
Not every cat gets to wear a crown, but Darlen Fleur Dalmore Black is not just any cat. This stunning Abyssinian from Russia was officially named the most beautiful cat in the world at the 2025 World Cat Federation (WCF) Championship. He outscored nearly 1,500 competitors from across the globe, earning a final tally of 19,726 points. It is a remarkable achievement that has put both the cat and Russian cat fancy on the international map.
What makes this title especially impressive is the way the WCF actually determines its champion. Rather than crowning a winner based on a single grand finale, the federation uses a cumulative scoring system that spans the entire calendar year. That means Darlen had to consistently perform at the highest level throughout the whole season, not just on one lucky day. He ended up competing at more than 40 certified exhibitions to rack up those winning points.
At every show, judges evaluated him against the strict standards of the Abyssinian breed. That includes things like physical balance, muscle tone, head structure, ear placement, eye expressiveness and the quality of his distinctive ticked coat. Darlen’s calm and composed behavior in the ring, even in unfamiliar surroundings and while being handled by judges, was a key factor in earning those consistently high scores. His advantage over the competition grew steadily until it became simply unbeatable by the end of the season.
His owner, Darija Gruzinova, shared some insight into the secret behind his success when speaking to Russian media. According to her, the foundation of a great show cat is laid very early in life. “We started with shows when he was a kitten, at three months of age, and even then he was achieving notable results,” she explained. She emphasized that early socialization and getting used to the exhibition environment are absolutely crucial for any cat with a competitive career ahead of it.
Gruzinova described a thoughtful and dedicated preparation process that included getting young Darlen accustomed to car travel, noisy environments and crowds of unfamiliar people. The Abyssinian breed, she noted, is particularly well-suited for this kind of career thanks to its natural energy, love of human company and genuine eagerness to engage with people around it. These personality traits, combined with the early training and socialization Darlen received, made him the ideal candidate for the show ring. His victory is as much a testament to his owner’s dedication as it is to his natural beauty and temperament.
