A Couple Tried to Film Their Proposal and a Seagull Completely Stole the Show
Planning a marriage proposal is stressful enough without wildlife getting involved, but one couple found out the hard way that nature doesn’t really care about your big romantic moment. They set up a camera with a beautiful ocean view in the background, fully expecting to capture a memory they would treasure for the rest of their lives. What they got instead was something far more entertaining and, honestly, way more memorable. A nosy seagull waddled straight into the frame and refused to move, blocking the couple entirely.
The video, which the woman later shared on TikTok, shows the bird first lingering at the edge of the shot before boldly marching to the center and claiming the spotlight for itself. At one point the seagull even pecked at the camera, seemingly making its opinion of the whole setup very clear. You can hear the couple laughing in the background as they watched it unfold on their phone screen. She captioned the clip with something along the lines of setting up the camera for a proposal and then discovering what actually happened when they played it back.
What made the story even sweeter was why she reposted it. With their wedding coming up the following year, she felt the clip was simply too good not to share again. She also clarified in the comments that the footage was taken immediately after he proposed, and that he was not standing up for the actual question. The video ended up attracting more than six million views and over one million likes, turning an accidentally ruined proposal recording into a full-blown internet sensation.

The comments section became its own highlight reel. Plenty of people joked that the seagull was clearly overjoyed for the happy couple, while others started sharing their own photos of birds that had photobombed their proposals. One person wrote that they would never forget the bird that flew into their frame during the big moment, and another replied with a laugh that apparently no experience is truly unique. It turns out proposal-crashing birds might be far more common than anyone realized.
The most creative fans went one step further and suggested the seagull deserved an official role at the wedding. Some said a little seagull figurine should appear somewhere on the cake, while others thought the bird should lead the ceremony entirely. One commenter was convinced the couple needed a framed screenshot of their uninvited guest displayed somewhere at the reception. Whatever they decide, one thing is certain: that seagull earned its place in their love story whether they planned for it or not.
If you have ever had an animal crash one of your most important moments or filmed something that did not go quite as expected, share your story in the comments.
