How Your Amazon Review Helps All Raw Feeders

In a few weeks, I'll be walking through one of the many entrances to SuperZoo and this year a few things have changed…

  • I'm a bonafide member of a select group of content creators who are working to change the industry.
  • I'll be arriving with friends who are raw feeders and kick ass!
  • I'll be arriving with the title “Author” along with Dog Nutrition Blogger.
  • And raw feeding is officially under attack.

Pet parents want fresh food.  We know this because sales for raw, freeze-dried, and dehydrated dog food are climbing.  Google searches for raw dog food have tripled.  And more than 250,000 people visit THIS WEBSITE each month to learn more about raising dogs naturally.

That's HUGE!!!  And people are taking notice.  Every day, I see articles condemning raw feeding. The media is saying that it's dangerous, the FDA is slyly tossing out words like “botulism” and “pathogens,” leading the public to believe that death follows our choice to feed raw.

For the pet industry to take us seriously and stop seeing raw feeding as a fad, we need to continuously show them that we want fresh food for our pets.  We need to show them that a diet of processed foods is unhealthy for our pets too.  And we can do that purchasing and publishing reviews for books about raw feeding.

Amazing Books on Raw Feeding

If you haven't done so already, please consider purchasing the paperback or Kindle version of the following books about raw feeding.  Each one offers something for anyone who is interested in transitioning to raw, learning more about raw feeding, or simply reading another perspective on the raw food diet.

A Novice's Guide to Raw Feeding for Dogs – this is my book in which I share my experience as a raw feeder and everything my dogs (and the raw feeding community) have taught me about feeding them a species appropriate diet.  I'm the type of person who loves to jump around when reading a reference book, so I wrote it for that reader in mind, so there is some repetition of points that I think are important for people brand new to raw feeding.  You can either read it from front to back or jump around as I do.  However you choose to read it you'll learn something new, and you'll get ideas from the recipes I share.

Raw and Thriving: The Ultimate Guide to Getting (and Keeping!) Your Dog Healthy – this book is by my friend Kristin Clark and what I love most is that she not only shares her experience and knowledge as a professional in the industry, but she also shares solutions.  It's great to learn how to feed raw, but often we come across health issues that leave us stumped, and many of these issues can be treated through diet and Kristin explains how!  This is a MUST HAVE book for raw feeders.

Raw Feeding 101: Beginner's Raw Feeding Guide – this book is by my friend Scott Jay Marshall II who also manages the online course Raw Feeding 101.  In this book, Scott takes you through the steps of transitioning your dog to raw and feeding your dog a raw food diet.  Scott is a down to earth, relaxed dog parent with a wealth of experience and knowledge about raw feeding.  You'll learn a lot from his book.

Help Us Change the Pet Food Industry

We're all seeing an increase in articles that are attacking raw feeding.  The FDA seems to be trying to push raw food brands into changing the way they produce food and people with sick pets who are interested in raw are afraid to take the leap for fear of pathogens and other dangers the media is promoting.

We need your help!!!

1 – Purchase Our Books on Raw Feeding

If you haven't done so already, purchase one (or all – I vote for all) of our books on Amazon.com.  And after you read the books, please return and leave a review (5 stars is best!!!).

2 – Leave a Review

If you've already purchased these books and haven't left a review, please return to Amazon.com and publish your glowing review.  Positive reviews don't just help us.  The more positive reviews we receive, the more Amazon will show our books to people who want to learn about raw feeding.  And the more seriously the pet food industry and the veterinarian community will take raw feeding and stop calling it a fad and jump onboard the Fresh Food train.

What to Write in a Review on Amazon

Click the below titles to take you to each book's page on Amazon.com:

What would you tell a friend about the book?

I read A LOT and when I'm leaving an Amazon book review, I write what I'd say to a friend to get them to read the book.  And I write a few warnings (or heads up) about the book that I think a friend might appreciate.  For example, I was listening to a series and my friend told me that a different voice actor narrates the third book – something like this can change how much you enjoy a series if you've gotten used to another voice.

Another thing I do is go through the other reviews because this may remind me about an aspect of the book that I would also like to speak on as well.  For instance, after I read the series, I picked up the fourth book.  Many people hated it because it was a lot shorter.  I loved it and felt that it gave me the wrap up that I didn't realize I was missing from the first three so I made sure to add that to my book for others who are looking for the same thing.

Share something you learned from the book?

With every book I read, there is something that stands out and I share this in my review.  For example, in one of my favorite series by Scarlett Dawn, what stands out is how she created a world with so many characters with strong roles in the story and I imagined that she had some type of organization chart with details, histories, physical descriptions, and relations to all of the other characters.  I even asked her and SHE DOES!  This is something I tell everyone about her books.  The characters are amazing.

When leaving a not so positive review.

If you aren't happy with a book and want to leave a less than stellar review, that's okay.  No book is going to appeal to everyone and while a one, two, or three-star review can sting a bit, an author understands that everyone has a right to an opinion.  All I ask is to be kind.  Writing a book isn't easy.  So share your honest thoughts without personally attacking the author who put their heart and soul into a piece of work hoping that people would like it and appreciate it.

Five-star reviews are truly awesome!

While I would love to have hundreds of 5 Star reviews, I ask that you publish your honest thoughts on our books.  The purpose of this is to help others who are trying to learn.  I remember when I was new to the concept of raw feeding and I depended on the Amazon.com reviews to help me choose the books that introduced me to this diet.  Today, these reviews carry a heavier weight because our way of feeding our pets is under attack.  Let's show the pet food industry and the FDA that raw feeding isn't a fad, it's species appropriate.

Thanks!
